  • Description

  • UC 515 is a high-performance low modulus moisture curing sealant, based on hybrid technology which is both isocyanate and VOC free.
  • It has a good cure rate, excellent moisture, and oxidation resistance, and exhibits excellent adhesion to cementitioussubstrates, asphalt, brick, stone, steel, wood, and ceramic tiles.
  • It has an extremely low modules and high elongation and is recommended for use in areas where extreme movement is anticipated. (50% of initial joint width)
  • Product Application

  • UC 515 can be used as a joint sealer and crack filler on various surfaces and will provide excellent movement accommodation.
  • It can be used externally in road joints if it is recessed by 5mm to avoid tyre wear.
  • It provides medium chemical, wear and corrosion resistance, while at the same time curing to a 15 Shore A hardness (+/- 5 Shore A).
  • A degree of colour change with time is to be expected. It is not recommended for use in water retaining structures.
  • If applied to natural stone, we recommend the use of UC 105 Primer.
  • UC 515 is overcoatable, however the coating will crack as it will not accommodate the same movement as the sealant.
  • It is recommended that a compatibility test is done prior to application or painting.
  • Surface Preparation

All surfaces to be clean sound and dry, free of moisture, dust, laitance, and oil. If used in severe or damp conditions prime with UC 106.

    Application

  • Place sausage in the barrel gun, cut end off sausage and fit the nozzle; trim the tip to suit the joint spacing to be filled.
  • Insert backing rod to the correct depth.
  • Gun the product into prepared joints and smooth with a dry spatula.
  • The joint width should be designed to accommodate the expected movement, the joint ratio for 6 – 10mm wide joints is 1:1 thereafter a ratio of 2:1 should be respected.
  • Note a minimum width of 6mm and a maximum of 50mm should be adhered to. A backing cord/bond breaker should be used depending on application, to prevent three-sided adhesion.
  • Cleaning

Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with UC 901, as the cured material is very difficult to remove.

    Safety

  • Contact with the skin should be avoided by wearing gloves, eye protection and protective clothing.
  • In case of eye contact wash well and obtain medical advice.
